Mobile Wish List

Everything is going mobile these days. Phones, text messaging, gaming consoles, your entire music and video collection, calendars, email and internet access can all somehow fit into one pocket-sized device available in 8 different colors to suit your every whim. Microchip implants with direct-to-brain integration, wearable head-up display systems and literal ‘blink of the eye’ commands to do your laundry or wash the dishes seem just around the technological corner! But I’ll wait to purchase the latest iPhone, small and stylish though it may be, until I am convinced it can support the functions I need as a sales executive.

Besides, you see so many people out and about, barely cognizant of their surroundings as they slavishly respond to every incoming email and text message on their wireless device. Who wants to live like that? And more importantly, who wants to be around people who live like that? I doubt there is a person left in America who has been in a movie theater, having dinner at a restaurant, or in the middle of a conversation that hasn’t been interrupted by the incessant beeping and chirping of incoming information.

So where can I get a device that will back up my brain? And then think and act like I would? And still fit in my pocket? Of course, when I’m talking about a Brain Backup™, I’m referring to the bits contributing to the all-important closing and reporting of the sale:

  • Complete address book details and appointment calendar with one click access to the latest phone conversation or email sent, plus detail of their purchase history.
  •

  • Email functionality using a true Artificial Intelligence for alerts, prioritizing new leads as they arrive in my inbox and alerting me of only the hottest ones (or at least using a highly customizable logic to alert me however I configure it to).
  •

  • Can you imagine a world where there’s no more fumbling for product specs and special promotion pricing in the client’s office, because the information is literally at your fingertips?
  •

  • What if I could click to select products from real-time available inventory, build quotes and email contracts to clients while on the go; I could get the paperwork signed and close the deal before I’ve closed their door behind me!
  •

  • And by the time I’m walking through the door to my office, the boss is there to congratulate me on the sale that’s already been posted to our CRM system.

  • Take it all a step further to one-click dialing from any record and you’ve got my wallet out!
  •

Speaking of wallets, and since I’m fantasizing here, all this should cost me about the same per day as my grande, non-fat, low foam double latte addiction, because with a feature set like I’m dreaming of, this device would be my latest addiction. Or extra appendage. Seriously, can you tape it directly to my brain, because I’m ready to jack-in!

It’s a tall order, I know. I’m still looking for the dream device that can fill all those needs. And maybe teleport me anywhere in the world, so I can avoid my morning commute! But seriously, if you know of a device that meets many or some of the major criteria I’ve talked about, please post a comment about it. I can’t be the first sales executive in the world to dream of this feature set, can I? Am I forgetting anything?
